Although I’m not done yet, I’d like to get a headstart on formating the written pattern for my design. I decided to use Pages on MAC. I’m new to MAC world and on a serious learning curve. Frustration is setting in, but I’m coming to you all for help instead. What do I need help with? Everything! I need more fonts. I need to know how to create formats suitable for patterns. Where’s the “end” tab, where’s the “home” tab? how do you save the end pattern as a PDF?

I need help y’all. Please and thanks!

Reengaged in the process

In designing, stash busting on April 6, 2014 at 9:03 pm

Many, many weeks have passed without working on my design. I tried though. However, this weekend I was able accomplish quite a lot. I got several rows of stripes done, jogless of course. I even tampered with Fibonacci for the stripes. I know! Very technical stuff! I’m writing the pattern as I knit and I suppose that this is what slows my process. It’s time consuming, but for me, its necessary to see what I’m doing and write down what I’ve done for accuracy. So far, I’m loving the piece.image I remember telling you all I had a June 1, 2014 deadline ; I was initially thinking of submitting to Knitty…maybe another time. This will go straight to Ravelry as a PDF.

Knitless days. Knitless nights.

In designing, knitting on February 26, 2014 at 1:05 am

Confession: I haven’t knit in well over 3 weeks.
I hope I didn’t forget how.
But I have been reading and liking your blog posts.
I’ve been knitting vicariously through all of you.
Thank you by the way.
I knit in my sleep.
Every night. I’ve been diligent.
And while there, all my projects are complete and it takes only 5 minutes for that to happen.
I have massive amounts of sweaters and socks.
In real time, I’ve been busy. No lie.
Too busy for “just one row.”
You see the time of this post? I’m up just finishing work.
But since I’m up, I wanted to explain to you why you’ve been getting forwarded posts.
I call ’em that…also known as reblogging.
My life has been hectic.
I’ve been too tired.
I’m not uninspired however, just too tired. Too tired to knit?! Yes. Too tired.
I’ll begin soon hopefully.
I’m itching for my knitting fix but the vision and inspiration never quits.
Things are quietening…At least to a degree.
Enough where knitting can resume.
Soon. Very, very soon.

Designing without fear

It’s been a mystery as to what I’m in the process of designing. I will say this … it is multi- textural and has a lot of color work. About the construction, it’s made in the round and will require grafting. This is the part of the design I’m not looking forward to… If anyone knows how to graft two ends of a tube together, please let me know.

Yes, I know you want to know exactly what it is…sooooooon!

So far I’m loving the grey and off-white combo.

I’ve had some setbacks with designing but I’m bouncing back.

Stay tuned!

Maybe it’s me

I took a snow day, but it should have been a sick day. I’ve been sneezing all day, with bouts of hot flashes and pounding headaches. I tried to knit but that was a futile attempt. My mind could not focus on anything and mistakes riddled the tea cozy and my design. TINK TINK TINK. It was quitting time as soon as I started… Nothing seemed to make sense. Is that I’m dense and not getting it? Or is it that I’m sick? I think the former. Tomorrow is a new day and will be better.

Stay tuned.

Color chosen

In designing, knitting, stash busting on January 6, 2014 at 11:27 am

I had some grand ideas for color schemes….and of course nothing in my stash was right. So I decided on something basic but beautiful; grey and off-white. I chose Caron Simply Soft, it’s inexpensive, but maybe as time goes on, I’ll be able to design on better.

I’m not sure I’ll get started on this today, but I might. I just may cake up these puppies though. I’ll also consider color placement.

I’m really happy!

Productive indeed

Today I did not do all I intended, not bad, just not what I envisioned. What I did though, was unlock my creativity; I was able to complete a design. It is the first in almost 2 years since I have done this. I would have preferred to knit draft it, but writing it seemed simple enough.

Again, I was on Pinterest, and I found these printables a couple days ago and It has made things easier for me…even though I have the knitting journal, Knit Notes, this design just poured out of me.

I needed help with stitch patterns and in converting the flat patterns into the round so I looked here, here, and here. Great resources.

My design is inspired by a manufactured piece, so I’m not going to take 100% credit, but I have written this pattern myself. My next step in this is selecting yarn (probably from my stash) and testing it before its release; I have some ideas floating around; I’ll show you the final product and then I’d like your feedback before I release the pattern.

Thanks so much and stay tuned!
