Christmas knitting

In community challenges, knitting on November 13, 2014 at 5:35 pm

The time of year when your head bursts with anxiety because that plan you had to begin Christmas knitting in January was an epic fail … is now. Now, when it’s a month before Christmas and you have not one knitted gift as you so meticulously planned. Sarcasm. Fear not, there is hope here.  I found this on Facebook and shared on my page.  The emailed pdf came relatively quickly and I like it!  There are some helpful strategies in planning those pesky projects! Ha! I suggest starting in your stash!

Enjoy!

Purple Rain

I’ve had this Cascade Magnum for a few months, from at least the Spring. I’ve been thinking of what I’d make from the day I bought it. I love the richness of the color! So, here I am, some 6 months later, making a cowl. This cowl is the beginnings of my Christmas knitting.

I learned a new cast on for a hat I wanted to make and decided to practice on this. It’s the twisted German cast on and it was pretty simple.  The Twisted German cast on it actually a stretchy cast on and I thought the cowl was a great item to practice on.

I’ll have to seam it.I don’t mind knitting flat anymore. The cowl is being knit on 35’s…Strange and uncomfortable, but doable. I was told it would take an hour to knit….not hardly, or maybe I’m just a slow knitter and enjoying this break I took to knit.

4.5 days of knitting

Is 4 1/2 days truly all it takes to knit this sweater? I can do that!

I’m so torn! I need a sweater (more than one actually), I need to knit again (I started a hat and it’s almost done), but do I need the $195 cost? Really?

I have a 10% discount code good until 11/10/2014, which is what, like $20 off, so $175 cost? (If my math is bad don’t judge me, not my strong point.)

Then of course the next issue is the color I want! (sigh)

Somebody save me!

I’ve literally been dreaming of Wool and the Gang and the fancy kits making life so simple!

Wool and the Gang seems so cool and the short knit is so appealing to me!

I want a sweater knit kit! Waaaaaaa (my I love Lucy cry) lol

If I get this, it literally would be the only gift I would give myself for Christmas… (but wait, there’s the Black Friday sale at Eat, Sleep, Knit)

Has anyone knit this before or similar sweater kit from Wool and the Gang?

Should I just find a similar pattern on Ravelry and buy yarn from LYS?

Talk to me.

One way to organize yarn

In community challenges, knitting, stash busting on November 4, 2014 at 9:58 pm

Organizing one’s stash is one of the most challenging aspects of knitting.  There is no one way, right or wrong way to do it.  You have to find a method that works for you and there is a method for everyone.  Of all the methods I have come across, I like this one the best.  Instead of rummaging through bins of yarn, creating a paper catalog with yarn samples and the yarn band is  a no-brainer! And it’s easy to write other notations about the yarn, not outlined on the template.   I have already printed out about a dozen pages and all I need is the paper punch.

I’m curious if any of you have thought of this method and if you have, what are your thoughts? I’m also wondering if anyone will do this besides me!
